Our mission

Stop juggling. Start mastering.

Students are told to be organized, then handed a dozen apps that do not talk to each other. Flashcards here, lessons there, a planner somewhere else, an AI chat that has never seen any of it. The organizing becomes its own full-time job.

Slate is the opposite bet: one academic platform that knows your whole picture. What you are studying, when it is due, how well you actually know it, and what to do next. When the tools share context, the busywork disappears and the studying gets to be the point.

The story

Built by a student, in the open

Slate started with a simple frustration: the tools meant to help me study kept getting in the way of studying. I wanted one place that understood the whole thing, so I started building it.

It is made by a small team, in Texas, with a lot of leverage from AI. That is not a secret to keep, it is part of how a project this size ships from a founder rather than a big company. We would rather tell you plainly than dress it up.

What we believe

A few things we hold to

One place, not five

Studying breaks in the gaps between tools. We put Study, Learn, and Plan in one context so nothing has to be carried by hand.

Respect the student

No dumbing down and no guilt trips. We treat students as capable people who want to get good at hard things.

Honesty over hype

We say what Slate does and what it does not. AI can be wrong, and we tell you so rather than pretend otherwise.

Open about how we build

Slate is built by a small team with a lot of help from AI. We would rather be plain about that than hide it.

Slate is a product of Apex.

Bring it all into one app

Slate is free to start, with no credit card. Set up your first deck, lesson, or study block in a couple of minutes.
