Using AI to study without cheating yourself

AI will happily write your essay, and if you let it, you will learn nothing and it will show up on the test. Used well, though, an AI tutor is one of the best study tools ever made. The line between the two is simple: does the AI do the thinking, or do you?

Ask it to coach, not to answer

Instead of "solve this," try "give me a hint," or "check my reasoning," or "ask me a question that tests whether I get this." You stay in the driver's seat and the AI does what a good tutor does: nudges.

Verify, always

AI can be wrong with total confidence. Treat every answer as a claim to check, not a fact to copy. When it explains a concept, see if you can re-explain it without looking. If you cannot, you do not know it yet.

Let it find your gaps

The most useful thing AI can do is notice patterns you miss. Ask it what you keep getting wrong and why. Then turn that into a deck and drill it.
